Cricket-Aid, the charity arm of Sri Lanka cricket, has commenced immediate relief operations in the wake of the country’s flood disaster. Around 50 people are reported to have died while over 100 are missing and 400,000 have been displaced, with Cricket-Aid hoping for contributions of items such as bed linen, towels, clothes and medical supplies.Former Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene, who is commentating on the Test series between Sri Lanka and England for Sky Sports, said: It is important we provide clothing and various other essential items to the Sri Lankan people in need.People have lost their lives due to landslides so thoughts are with the families affected but we also hope to find those that are missing safe and well.
