это неканонично. hosts нужен только тогда, когда иного выхода отвратить соединение не получается. например, когда не можешь найти источник "вирусного" соединения, а время идет на секунды.
каноничней - через броузеры. например для лисы есть плагин adblock через который я сам таки кое что забанилю
